Most of the heavy rain has missed the the Munster Blackwater Catchment so despite a few small floods the fishing has not yet picked up and water levels are still low…
Fortwilliam Estate Fishery
Water levels are at a summer time low (Gauge 0.10m) and a small freshness in the river with all these heavy showers. A few fish have been landed so even with low levels fish are still running. Con Sheehan from Clonmel is doing the business with two visits to the fishery and landing 2 fish of 6lbs each all on fly. Pat Kiely had a nice fish of 5lbs off the Ellis beat on spinner. I even got lucky myself with a nice fish of 7lbs off the Castle beat also on fly.
Go fishing…
Flowing through Cork and Waterford, in the south east of Ireland, the river Blackwater is most famous for it’s salmon fishing. Fort William Fishery has 5 beats on the river, which include stretches particularly suited to flyfishing. Our beats offer a wide variety of water, suitable for both beginners and the more experienced fishermen. In summer we have also good numbers of sea trout. On the estate there is two self-catering cottages and tackle/freezer room. Whether you like fishing for salmon or fly fishing for sea trout, Fort William will meet all your game angling requirements and much more.
