Mike Murray of Murray’s Angling Services reports on the coarse fishing around Portumna:

Fishing in and around Portumna has continued to improve. Plenty of Bream and Hybrids showing with Rodgers Island and town stretches producing good weights. Pre baiting giving the best results. Bites are very shy so it is important to strike at the slightest movement of the rod tip when feeder fishing.

Keith Harvey and his 79 year old uncle Charlie from Birmingham had been fishing for a few days in the Killaloe area with poor results. They contacted me to try and put them onto the Bream. I pre- baited one of my favourite swims upstream of Portumna and they steadily caught each day for 4 days. Their final day produced 90lb + of fish. They were both delighted with the fishing and will be returning next year.
