Angling Guide – Ballinamore, Bawnboy, Ballyconnell, Carrigallen
1. Brackley Lake – Shallow along the road for roach. Access over private land at Prospect for good bream, roach, hybrids, pike. Seek permission to enter here.
2. Bunerky Lake – (Arderry Lake). Access at lay-by. Fishing for bream, roach, rudd, hybrids, perch, pike.
3. Lakefield Lake – park carefully near Mr. Dolan’s house. Roach, rudd, some bream, hybrids, perch, pike.
4. Bellaboy Lake – easy access to good bank. Bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike, eels.
5. Templeport Lake – access by the side of the church. A rich lake for good bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike.
6. Woodford River – shaded at Burren Bridge for roach. Good at Skellan Lock for some bream, roach, perch. Roach, perch, pike and some bream at Ballyheady Bridge.
7. Coolgoue Lake – parking at bridge. Good quality bream, roach, hybrids, pike, perch. This lake is sometimes weedy.
8. Derrycassan Lake – bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike, eels.
9. Blackwater River – holds some trout, also roach, perch. Flows into the shallow Ballymacgovern Lake.
10. Little Garadice Lake – parking at entry to Garadice Lake. Limited swims. Bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike. The Woodford River flows on from here, forming some good pools.
11. Garadice Lake – big good water with many stretches producing good bream catches, with roach, hybrids, perch, pike, eels. Fishing at the chief stretches, where there is parking near the water.
A. Church Shore and Cully’s. Good parking beside water.
B. Haughton’s Shore. Access easy and parking at water.
C. Connolly’s Shore. Car park. Do not bring car into field.
12. Corduff Lake – small water with stands for roach, tench, some bream, perch.
13. Woodford River, Carrickmakeegan Bridge – narrow river. Good bream in early season near lake. Roach, perch, hybrids, pike, eels.
14. Drumlonan Lake – best access by small road and through gate on north side of lake. Roach, rudd, hybrids, perch, tench, pike.
15. Corgar Lake – specimen tench, roach, rudd, hybrids, perch, pike. Fishing is from stands.
16. Bolganard Lake – fishing from stands for some bream, roach, perch, pike.
17. Mullaghboy Lake – fair for bream, roach, perch, eels.
18. Drumlea Lake, Keenheen Lake – bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike, eels.
19. Clooncorick Lake – once held the record tench but now there are smaller tench here. Roach, some bream, hybrids, perch and pike are also present.
20. Gangin Lake – parking is beside this small muddy lake. The reeded Mosies Lake is in the left of here. Gangin Lake holds bream, roach, hybrids, perch, some tench, pike. Other waters in the Carrigallen area are shown on the adjoining map (Carrigallen, Arva, Gowna).
21. Town Lake – beside Carrigallen and fishable from stands for tench, roach, some bream, hybrids, perch, pike.
22. Drumcoura Lake – easy access to this good water. Bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike, eels.
23. Lough Awaddy – a small muddy lake with bream, rudd, roach, hybrids, perch, pike eels.
24. Willowfield Lake – this small lake holds a big stock of small roach, rudd, hybrids, some tench and perch.
25. Reane Lake – roach, perch, pike, eels.
26. Woodford River, Ballyduff – the river is small and narrow, with bankside parking. Roach, perch, rudd, hybrids, some bream, pike.
27. St. John’s Lake – access at Ballyduff Bridge and via the farmhouse to a car park. Fishing is at a point into the lake for a big stock of small bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike.
28. Kiltybardan Lake – easy access beside the main road, Fishing beside parking and to the right around the corner. Good for bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike, eels.
29. Drumlaheen Lake – a big lake, with bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike, eels. The top section has some snags.
30. Keshcarrigan Lake – waterside parking. Bream, roach, hybrids, perch, pike.
31. Lough Scur – the northern access is of the Ballinamore/Drumshanbo road. The uneven shore provides good fishing for bream, roach, hybrids, perch and pike. The second access is off the Keshcarrigan road where fishing is not equal to that of the opposite bank.
32. Castlefore Lake – a reeded lake beside the road. It has some clear swims for bream, roach, hybrids, perch and pike.
