Sunday morning 20th January coaches Davy Pyne and Tony O’Brien got more than they bargained for when a giant Salmon decided to hitch a ride with the two in their Boat. The two were out on a routine training session with the under 15 males when the estimated 14 pound fish leaped out of the water and into the boat they were driving.  “You should have been in the boat, l thought we hit a log or that Davy fell in until l looked down at my feet and nearly died ” said Tony. Unfortunately the speed of the boat combined with the metal frame meant the fish died on impact. Club members were in shock as the two brought their catch in to show the crowd that had gathered to view the massive fish. Fortunately local camera enthusiast and Fermoy Camera Club member George O’Keeffe was also on the beautiful stretch of water to take a few snaps of the spectacle.
