Billy Downes, Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association, reports that as of Tuesday 6th of June the Laune was at 1.3m and still rising which is good news for this the week as river was getting a bit on the low side…

During the past week a few fish were met each day but not as many as the previous week.

Richard Barry has only fished the Laune three times so far but he has managed to meet and lose three fish. A bit of a record. The most recent one was last Friday a fine fish well into double figures only to break on him after twenty minutes.

Over the weekend the fishing was very disappointing with the nets off Saturday to Monday. There was a considerable angling effort but no news of fish being met or landed by members and a good few visiting anglers. There was rising water and that is never good.

Paul Murphy fished the Laune on Tuesday and was rewarded with a 14 lbs bar of silver

Prospects: Beautiful water the river will go above 1.3m giving ideal conditions for all methods. But not much sign of fish entering the system and one has to allow for the fact that the commercial nets will be operational from Tuesday to Friday.
