Ghillie/Guide Vincent Appleby reports on the recent fishing in the Lough Currane area.

10/04 All the head lines go to Mr. Gareth Brain and his brother Sion of Waterville  and of www.kbfishingireland.com and for good reason. They went out a 5 pm and were in by 7 pm with two Salmon, ranging from 8 lbs up to 14 lbs. Just for the record they were both caught on the troll. Wind SSE light and overcast with light showers at times.

09/04 My noble anglers failed in the Salmon department, so we will go straight to the Sea Trout department. Mr. Denis Dennehy caught a fine 1 lbs Sea Trout off the point of  Grassy Island and also caught a few Brown Trout down by the Reeds. His quote of the day was “I had a good welcome back and a good soaking”.

The 7th and 8th were windy, wild and unpleasant and no fish were reported.

06/04 All the headlines go to German Angler, Mr. Bernd Rall, who caught a fine 10lbs  Salmon on the fly, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com. For the rest of we so called anglers the least said the soonest mended. Wind SE light with cloud cover at times.

05/04 In the Catch and Release sea trout department and the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com PJ and Henry Keating of Co Meath, caught 2 Sea Trout ranging from 2lbs up to 2.5lbs and 1 Brown Trout of 1.5lbs. All caught on the fly yesterday.

That is your ration for this week, from your Gillie and the Waterville Fishery, no spin no fly’s just facts.
