Fair to good salmon fishing reported from the Cork and Kerry fisheries

Laune, Beats 1 and 2

3 salmon landed, 1 from beat 1 and 2 from beat 2, averaging 7 lb. by local anglers for the weekended 4th September.

As of Monday 5th September water at 2 feet on the gauge at Johnston’s.  Water risen again over night and running fairly clear.  No Sign so far of dirty water from the Gweestin which could probably colour it tomorrow after more heavy rain tonight.

I would say that prospects for the next few days are very good, the only problem being strong winds and fluctuating water levels.

One angler fishing at Johnston’s today met five fish and landed four the best a sea liced fish of 8 lbs.

15 salmon landed for the past two weeks

Sneem River

10 salmon landed for the past two weeks by local anglers averaging 8 lb.

Coomhola River

12 salmon landed for the week.

River Ilen

22 salmon landed mostly grilse 4 lb. to 6 lb., best fish 8 lb.
