There was some coarse angling news with Nick Howell and Colin Martin the overall winners of the Irish Team Qualifer series held last weekend on the River Bann at Portglenone.  The Irish team had to settle for Team Silver in Castleblayney but dominated on the Podium.

On the pike angling front there was a nice 21 lb. pike taken on a lure at Green Lake at Castlehamilton, Killeshandra.  It was announced that there will be an Open Pike Competition Athy on October 28th.   The Catch of the Week goes to James Kirby who caught a great pike while fishing for perch with a worm on a size 10 barbless hook and 6 lb. nylon on Lough Derg
