Emy and District Anglers Ltd host their annual Eugene Mulligan Memorial Fly-fishing competition, on Emy Lake, Emyvale, Co. Monaghan this Sunday July 15th 2012. This cup and competition is in memory of a leading member of the club and an expert fisherman. Eugene was a young man who introduced many others to take up the sport and he was always very encouraging and helpful to beginners. His death after illness in 1996 was a big blow to the club and his memory lives on with the members. The cup, donated by the family, was first competed for in 1997. Fishing will be from the shore only. Please note all anglers should check in at club jetty car park from 12.30 pm. Fishing starts at 2pm. Plenty of prizes will be up for grabs. Everyone is welcome.
Last years winner, Sean McKenna pictured below, will be hoping to retain the cup. He is the bookies early favourite but there are a few locals ready to claim top prize!
