North East angling guide Peadar O’Brien reports that he was out fishing with James Delaney today, Monday 17th December. The weather was damp, wet and overcast but this did not deter the lads. Peadar and James had a few small jacks, float trawling dead baits and had a lot of fun despite many fish being lost due to shaking off the hooks. This is what is known in the trade as the “long line release”.  Peadar also reports that local angler Martin Edwards won the fishing competition which took place on Sunday with a fish of 12lb. Martin had similar problems with a number of fish throwing the hooks. According to Peadar there are lots of jacks about at the moment considering the weather.

Pike angling also continues to provide some good catches on Lough Ramor in Virginia with some nice doubles reported recently from both bank and boat.
