Angling guide Peadar O’Brien reports that he and Richie McCahey ventured out to a local Carrickmacross lake yesterday Thursday 29th November. When the frost lifted, it got milder, water temp was 5 degrees and it was flat calm. As Peadar was putting the boat on 2 fish surfaced but as they had left the lure rods at home the could not cast to them. The lads had just brought dead bait rods and did a bit of float trawling which turned out to be great fun. They float trawled at 2mtrs and got a few fish, not monsters but nice fish and lost a few as well. On one occasion a really big one threw the dead bait. Peadar thinks that the weather is looking good for the weekend . The fishing around the area is very good at the moment with a lot of pike around. Another local Carrickmacross Club angler James Delaney also had a number of nice fish on the local lakes. Things are definitely looking up on the pike fishing front at the moment so why not try and get out to wet a line this weekend.
