Tuesday 25th September
Laune up slightly this morning to 1 foot 8 inches on the gauge at Johnston’s.  News from the river is that it is up a nice bit from yesterday with a slight bit of colour and suitable for all methods including fly.

News from the river over the weekend is that a few fish are being met/caught, Dominic Matthews , Stewart Stephens and Noel Hickey had encounters with fish fish on the fly on Sunday.  Richard Barry Tralee lost two fish on fly on Saturday evening which was unusual in what was a poor weekend of fishing.

There are a few sea trout being met by salmon anglers and Michael Collins returned a 1.5 lb brown trout on a salmon fly yesterday.

Last week
There has been a slight pick up mid week with  Sean O’Sullivan  catching  a lovely fresh grilse of 5 lbs on Wednesday, his first fish on the fly.

On Thursday 20th Peter Kleine visiting from Germany hooked the best fish of the day on the fly at Heffernan’s a 10 pounder only to lose it at the net.  Billy Downes Association Sec landed a nice fresh fish of 7 lbs on the fly at Johnston’s on Thursday afternoon.

Beat 3 water has fallen back considerably and is now at the stage of needing a foot or two of water to bring it up to its optimum for best fishing.   Nice brown trout fishing  there at the moment on the fly.
