Andrew Ryan from Clonanav Fly Fishing shares his antics of the last week with us:

The fishing has improved greatly over the past few days. The bright sunny afternoons have ensured some good hatches of sedge, olive and a few black gnats.  I was guiding Clonanav regulars John Woodhead and Chris Heseltine on the the Suir, Nire and Anner and they had some fantastic fish over the last week.  John is an accomplished river angler and had some amazing trout on small PTN flashback nymphs.

US clients from Frontiers Travel – Jeff and Carol Tywman fished really well over the past few days.  Again conditions were good with some really nice sunshine generating hatches of dry fly.  Jeff had some really spectacular dry fly fishing on Thursday afternoon. He managed to hook and land 5 amazing fish of around 15/16 inches.  Conditions for the last week are excellent.

Improver Courses for 2012

Yesterday we held our last improvers course for 2012 – and what a course!  The weather turned out really well although cold but very dry and bright.  We did have some fish rising to dry flies in the afternoon.  The course went really well with all participants really improving their skills both in casting and fishing techniques.  We will be holding more of these course during the spring/summer of 2013 for more details see our website.

Next week we are holding our last spey casting course for 2012. There are still some spaces left so if you would like to book, just give us a call.
