Ghillie/Guide Vincent Appleby reports on the salmon and sea trout fishing in the past week on the Lough Currane system from his blog at http://wwwsalmonandseatroutphotos.blogspot.com/

/9/12 Straight to the hired out boat department of [email protected] Mr. Lindsay Richards of Chester England, caught a find 2 lb. sea trout on the drift, and staying with Tom’s Hired out boat department Mr. Peter Coleman-Smith caught a fine 4 lb. sea trout, which he sportingly put back to fight another day, and his good friends fishing in another of Tom’s Boats, caught 4 Juniors on the drift. Wind NW fresh with bright sunshine all day.

/9/12 My Noble sea trout, take all the fly headlines, so let’s get down to the facts, Mr. Peter Liddle fishing with his ghillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught a fine sea trout just under the 5 lb., now to sea trout of the day and that goes too Mr. Paul Hyland, who caught a cracker of a specimen sea trout weighing in at 7 lb.2 oz. on the north side of the Lake, Paul had a good battle with his Noble sea trout, approximately 20 minutes too dispatch this fine specimen, and luck was on Paul’s side, as he netted his sea trout, his cast fell apart, and after his fine catch Paul did the same drift again and it wasn’t long before his fly rod was bent double into a fine salmon, but alas his Noble Gentlemen the salmon won the day too fight another day, in the hired out boat department of Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com reports, 7 sea trout were caught between two of his boats, now we cut across the Lake to the South side and the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Mr. Phil Cronin, caught 3 Juniors. Now we head upstream too Lough Derriana, Mr. Peter Coleman-Smith and Friends caught 12 Juniors (small sea trout) and 20 Brownies between the two boats, now head down stream too Lough Namona, Mr. Denis Dennehy, caught 18 Brownies to his rod.

/9/12 Mr. Andrew Price, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Bob Priestley, caught 5 Sea trout ranging from juniors up to 2 lb. on the drift, now too the apology department, on the 16/9/12 I forgot to mention that Mr. Joe Murphy’s, sea trout was caught on in the Fly, and I can tell you Joe, gave me a postmen’s verbal diplomatic thrashing for bad reporting, all I can say is, I stand corrected.

/9/12 It was reported to me by the Waterville Angling Centre and of www.kbfishingireland.com that an angler fishing on his own, early this morning, caught a fine 10 lb. salmon, also in good form in both the salmon and the sea Trout department was Mr. Andrew Price, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Bob Priestley, caught a fine grilse on the troll, and finished their day off with 4 sea trout on the fly, ranging from Juniors up to 3 lb., and for the rest of we so called anglers we failed miserably on our duties. Wind ESE then veered S this afternoon with reasonable cloud cover. 23/9/12 Mr. John Wood fishing with his ghillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught 1 sea trout to his rod, and staying with the sea trout, a guest fishing with his ghillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com caught 2 Trout and Anglers fishing out of Coffees Bay caught a few Juniors.

/9/12 All the Headlines go to Mr. John Bojter of the UK and fishing out of www.lakelandshouse.com and fishing with his ghillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, they caught a 5 lb. salmon and finished their day off with Sea Trout. That is your ration for this week, from your ghillie/guide and the Waterville fishery. No Spin No Fly’s just facts
