Angling Report 9th July (Email to Laune Angling Report) (PLEASE SEE PHOTO ATTACHED AND CAPTION)

As of Monday 9th July water now at 2.5 feet on the gauge at Johnston’s and running clear.  The Laune is in great condition for all methods of angling.

The last week will go down as The Week of Big Fish the best at 16 lbs falling to Tony Burke of Tralee spinning a purple Flying ‘C’ at Broderick’s.

Tony Burke from Tralee with a beautiful sea liced salmon of at least 16 pounds caught spinning at Broderick's Flat on the River Laune.

There were a number of  fish of 14, 12, 11 lb. landed.  Indeed this writer on Tuesday had what must have been a fish well into double figures fishing the fly at Gorry only for the hook-hold to fail after 7 minutes.  Patrick Richard had his first fish of the year a 10 pounder spinning,  fishing at O’Connel’s Ballymalis.  With the water as nice as it is at the moment and with fresh big fish and grilse running the river prospects are good for the coming week.

Permits for Laune Anglers waters costs only €25 up to the end of July.

Beat 3:

Beat 3 fished really well during the week with a good few fish reported from there.  There were fish caught each day even yesterday there was a fish of 10 lbs caught down at Pat Breen’s as well as some good sea trout.

A ‘One Day’ salmon permit for Beat 3 only costs €25 probably the best value in salmon fishing in the country with a good chance of a fish.         For further up to date information look up:          www.launesalmonanglers.com ‘Water Level’
