Lindsey Clarke reports on the first two week of August on The Drowes
July 30th to Aug 5th: The Drowes was quiet again this week and rod attendance was fairly low. There were a number of salmon recorded however. On Tuesday, Derek McLoughlin recorded 2 grilse caught. These weighed 2 & 4lb and were caught from the Black Hole and Corry on a fly. Jim Atkinson fishing on Thursday & Friday logged 3 grilse caught each weighing around 4lb caught on a fly from Briney’s & Lennox’s. Over the weekend, Joe Baker registered 2 salmon weighing 5 & 7lb caught on a fly.
Aug 6th to Aug 12th: The Drowes was quiet this week with only a limited number of rods fishing over the week. The bright sun and very hot conditions certainly did suit salmon angling. There was a small number of salmon caught the details of which I do not have as yet.
