Ghillie/Guide Vincent Appleby reports on the salmon and sea trout fishing in the past week on the Lough Currane system from his blog at http://wwwsalmonandseatroutphotos.blogspot.com/
31/7/12 Made another flood today, on the sea trout front, Mr. Andrew Brown fishing with his ghillie Mr. Bob Priestley, caught a fine 3 lb. sea trout on the fly, and for the rest of we anglers, yes we failed miserably in our duties.
1/8/12 Made another reasonable flood this morning, so we will head out onto Lough Currane, sadly my noble anglers failed in their duties on the day shift, and on the evening shift still waiting for the odd report, so now we head across the Valley too the River Inny and there was a fine 9 lb. salmon caught by Mr. Michael Roden, as always Michael was fishing with his ghillie Mr. Junior Scully or I should say the King of the River Inny
2/8/12 Mr. Dave Ecclestone of the UK fishing with his ghillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com caught a fine salmon on the fly and finished their day off with 2 fine sea trout in the 2 lb. class, and Dave was telling me that it was wild out there, with a strong WSW wind blowing and he gave Vincent his ghillie full credit for holding the boat in those wild conditions, so he could catch my noble salmon, all I can say praise indeed. Wind as already stated and overcast with heavy showers.

3/8/12 Straight to the action in the salmon department a guest fishing with ghillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.lakelandshouse.com caught a fine 5.6 lb. grilse on the troll, in the sea trout department, Mr. Bill Rushby fishing with his ghillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com caught a fine 3 lb. sea trout on the fly and not satisfied with Lough Currane, they headed for the River Inny, and Bill caught 2 grilse. Overcast with heavy rain throughout the day.
4/8/12 All the headlines go to 9 Year old Master Pieter Aalberrse of Holland, who caught his first ever Salmon on the troll, with his ghillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ [email protected] so congratulations to Pieter and may it be the first of many, now too the sea trout department

Mr. Andrew Brown, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Bob Priestley, caught 2 fine sea trout ranging from 2 lb. up to 3 lb., and just for the record there have been few salmon caught on the River Inny. Wind NE veered at times east light and overcast with showers throughout the day.
5/8/12 All the Salmon head Lines go to Dr. Tim Gleason, who caught Two salmon on the troll with his ghillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, and they finished their day off with two sea trout caught on the fly.

Also in good form in the sea trout department, was Mr. Andrew Brown, who caught 2 sea trout on the fly, fishing with his ghillie Mr. Bob Priestley, and staying with the sea trout it was reported to me that other anglers were catching a few juniors. Now we cut across the Valley too the River Inny, there was a 5 lb. grilse/ salmon caught on the garden fly, by Mike the Matador of the Bull Ring Tralee. Wind N light and overcast with the odd light shower.
6/8/12 Mr. Andrew Brown was in good form again in the salmon department when he caught a fine 5 lb. salmon on the fly with his ghillie Mr. Bob Priestley. In the sea trout department renowned Cork Angler Mr. Patsy Quilligan had a reasonable good action this August Bank holiday with 8 Sea Trout of which the best was in the 3 lb. class and rose 3 salmon and lost a cracker of a salmon, when asked what went wrong, Patsy, replied in real Cork Fashion I will leave the rest too you imagination, staying in the sea trout department Mr. Gerry O’Sullivan of Cork caught 1 sea trout in the Junior class, now to the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Mr. Barry Keenan caught a 1.5 sea trout. Wind NW light with reasonable cloud cover.
That is your ration for this week, from your Ghillie/Guide and the Waterville fishery. No Spin No Fly’s just facts
