2/4/12 All the Head lines go to Tam, who caught a 7 lb. salmon on the troll with his Father-in-law and renowned ghillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com and for the rest of we anglers the least said the soonest mended. Wind N light and overcast with the odd shower.
3/4/12 It was a hard day out on Lough Currane with a strong NNE blowing across the Lake, but this didn’t deter my noble anglers from venturing out, and all the head lines go to Mr. Philip Smith of the UK who caught his first ever salmon weighing in at 10 lbs caught on the troll fishing out of www.butlerarms.com and with his ghillie Mr. Junior Scully, so congratulations to Philip and may it be the first of many, and as his good friend, Mr. Kevin Toale said to me there is nothing like your first salmon and there is no argument to that. Wind as already stated.
4/4/12 There was a strong NNE blowing across the lake and there were only two boats manipulating in the wild conditions and I can say thing, both failed miserably in their duties.
5/4/12 Again we had that NNE wind blowing across the Lake, but at least we had a catch of the day, and that goes to Local ghillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, who caught a fine 10 lbs salmon on the troll and in the words of Dominic, you can’t take a photo of the Salmon it is already cut up and in the deep-freeze. 6/4/12 They say the early worm that catches my noble gentlemen the salmon and today was a perfect example of that, when renowned ghillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy headed out early this morning and caught himself a fine 8 lb. on the troll before 9 am and headed home as the other anglers were just arriving for their blank day, need I say more. Wind NNE light to fresh and overcast.
7/4/12 Lough Currane may be on the low side but fair play too Lough Currane its coming up with my Noble Gentlemen the Salmon and catch of the day goes to Mr. Michael O’Sullivan of [email protected] who caught a cracker of a salmon on the troll, weighing in at 13 lb. and talking of big fish one angler today got into salmon at the Bull Rock and drifted across the Lake too Water Lillie Bay, and I believe he didn’t see the salmon for the first 20 minutes but as he approached Water Lillie Bay the line went slack and the rest is history, how big the Salmon was I will leave too your imagination.
8/4/12 Waterville Fishery saw some good action in all departments this Easter Sunday, I start with the Sea Trout department where Mr. Patrick Duperat of France caught a fine 4 lb. Sea Trout on the fly fishing with his ghillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.lakelandshouse.com
and in the salmon department Mr. Collin Lynham of Dublin fishing with his ghillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, caught a fine 7 lb. on the fly at the Reeds in the Mouth of Commeragh, and catch of the day goes to Local Gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and of www.Salmonandseatrout.com who caught a fine Salmon of 10.5 lb. on the troll, they say self praise is no recommendation and I agree but those are the facts as see them. Now we head upstream Lough Derriana where Mr. Noel Clancy of Dublin caught 24 brown trout, and he was also telling that he also caught a few Kelts. Wind NW Light too fresh and overcast with light mist rain at times. With heavy rain coming in to night.
9/4/12 Lough Currane saw some reasonable action I start with the early shift yes you have it, Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy was in good form again when he caught a fine 11 lb. salmon on the troll, now we head for the fly department where Mr. Dave Ecclestone of the UK caught a fine 7 lb. salmon a the Bridge with his number 2 ghillie Mr. John Young of Waterville. Wind NW fresh too strong with the heavy showers and just for the record it made a small flood and the lake rose about five inches so far.
