Fishery manager Colin Folan reports that high water for the week ensured a very good run of fish, and especially a good run of sea trout.

73 sea trout were landed for the week, the best fish weighed 3.5lbs and was caught on Lough Inagh by regular Clare visitor Pat Power.  The fish took a Teal, Blue and Silver.  Heinrich Harendza and son, Patrick had 14 sea trout from the river beats for their week, and all fish were caught on salmon flies.  Patrick Molloy(Galway) had 6 sea trout to 2lbs for a day on Inagh.  Top fly for Patrick was a Silver Daddy.

Fr. Ronan Power (OMM) had 4 sea trout on Inagh.  There was also good brown trout fishing on both lake and river.  William Hamilton had a 2.5lbs brown and 6 sea trout for two evenings on The Trout Pool.  There were first fish on fly for USA visitor Lucas Bowerman, age 10 and N. Ireland youngster Ross Miley.

The salmon fishing should improve with the falling water this week.  Three grilse were taken for the week, but the real story is the number of fish that were lost by anglers.  I am aware of 14 lost fish.  Andy Walsh (Galway), Michael Heery (Dublin) and Ulrich Treusch (Galway) all had 6lbs grilse this week.
