Lindsey Clarke reports:
Monday 10th to Sunday 16th September 2012.
There were good water levels in the Drowes over the week. The fishery was not particularly busy which is usual for this time of the season. There were a number of salmon recorded however.
On Wednesday, visiting German rod Michael Drabek recorded a lovely fresh 10lb salmon caught on a fly from the Mill Pool. On Thursday, Owen McManus had a good day with 2 salmon caught weighing 6 to 7lb on a Rapala from the Mill Pool & Upper Mill Pool with one of these released again. He also landed a fine 4lb sea trout.
On Saturday, Dessie Moynes caught and released a 3lb grilse on worm from Thomas’s Pool and Tony Lawless logged 2 grilse weighing 3 & 4lb caught on worm from the Mill Pool and the Blackwater with the larger of these being released.
A visiting French party have accounted for a couple of grilse caught and have lost another 7 to date!
Water levels will remain good in the Drowes over the coming week and so prospects look good.
