Bernard Devenney of the Dundalk Salmon Anglers reports that the rain which fell over the last few days has brought the river level up by 30cms. Yesterday alone Wednesday 26th September at least six Salmon are known to have been caught. With not much rain forecast for the next few days fishing conditions are now excellent. During the last few days an increasing number of Salmon had been seen in the river and now with this extra flood more fish will certainly come into the river from the sea. The fish landed today were caught mostly on spinners however by Friday the river should suit fly fishing. Among the fish caught during the last week the following were recorded;
John Boyle, Crossmaglen 10lbs, William Burke, Dundalk 11lbs, Patsy Matthews, Dundalk 5lbs, Anthony Carty, Dundalk 7lbs, Brendan Mullholland, Dundalk 7lbs, Paddy Crudden, Ardee, 8lbs & 5lbs, Michael McKenny, Ardee 6lbs, Anthony Reynolds, Castlebellingham,7lbs(returned) Larry Durrigan, Ardee 7lbs(returned). Hopefully, from now until the end of the season (12th October) fishing conditions should favour continued good fishing.
