Closing Day on the Laune 2012 was not great as far as I know there were no fish caught and the river rose and ran yellow with a flood from the Gweestin.
Last Wednesday a few fish were caught. Among those who met fish were Martin Hurley who returned a nice fresh grilse, Noel Hickey returned a coloured fish and landed a 6 lb fresh grilse. Tony Burke met three fish spinning.
There was a considerable angling effort over the next couple of days but not a lot of fish were met. Jim Flinders member from Waterford caught a very fresh fish on the fly at Johnston’s and John Hussey had a fish on the worm on Thursday. On Friday Billy Cotter had a small stale fish and two sea trout on the fly.
