Chris Maguire reports that he caught and released a salmon on the Boyne at Slane on a purple shrimp.Ā A passer by who was out for a walk landed the fishĀ which ChrisĀ estimates was around 15 pounds.Ā The salmonĀ took the shrimp asĀ Chris was holding the shrimp on the float over the fish whenĀ on the 6th cast he ran up stream there was no stoping him. LuckilyĀ Chris had braid on andĀ the fight lasted 10 minutes.Ā Chris hasĀ been a member of the Rossin and Slane club sinceĀ he was 12Ā he isĀ 27 now. Chris reports also that the river fished great for sea trout all season and even with the high water heĀ landed about 30 /40 sea trout all on trotted white maggots. TheĀ best fish was 3 1/2 pound and it was released carefully back to the river as it was over-sized. All salmon wereĀ also released. The day before Chris caught the big salmonĀ he had 2 grilse of 4 and 7 pound which also released by to the waters of the Boyne.
