Jack Tisdall reports on the fifth round of the Waterway’s Ireland NCFFI Qualifier which was held on Lough Muckno at the Weekend.
The fifth round of the Waterway’s Ireland NCFFI Irish Team Qualifiers took place over this weekend.
The event was fished on the newly developed Concra Wood section of Lough Muckno Castleblaney, Co Monaghan.
The Lake fished well for the Float Qualifier on Saturday, with most anglers opting for Slider and Waggler tactics in perfect conditions.
The event was again supported by 32 different anglers over the weekend, meaning 43 different anglers have now fished at least one round in the Float series and 35 in the Feeder series.
Winner of the fifth round of the Float series was Jason Ward from Mayo, who fished a Slider/Waggler to catch about 50 fish mainly Roach for 6.650kgs on peg 12.
Runner up was Vincent Walsh (Erne Anglers) with 5.550Kgs, in third place was Brian Bohan (Sheemore AC) with 5.500Kgs.
Phillip Walton (East Belfast) won the third section with 3.750 kgs.
Vincent Walsh remains on top of the Float Qualifiers standings with one events to come.
The Feeder Qualifier which will be used to select the Feeder team for the World Championships in South Africa in 2013, was also fished on the Concra Wood section
on a different stretch of the lake on Sunday.
Winner of the Qualifier was Brian Bohan (Sheemore AC) with a catch of 42 fish including some better quality Roach 7.980 Kgs, runner up was Peter Turner (Fermoy and District AC),
