Trout fishing in winter can be a new and wonder full experience and no better way to clear your head, early morning, cold winds, numb hands and thinking to yourself ” I must be mad ” suddenly! the line snaps, the reel screams, A Curragh Springs Rainbow. What cold? and that’s how it was here last Sunday, an amazing day with 13 fish landed from dry fly. Stephen Potts from Newbridge with 8 fish on Black Klinkhammer and Martin Cowman with 5 on Adams.
Most fish are being caught on a variety of lures with various Buzzer combinations catching.The larger fish are a bit more evasive recently feeding in the deeper water but surprisingly Stephen Potts landed a fine 10lb Rainbow on dry-fly.
Sunday was a great day out for father and son Joe and Declan Moran from Kildare. However Joe claimed the day with a total of 6 fish mainly caught on Apps Bloodworm and Declan with 4 fish.
Once again we would ask all Anglers to please observe the Bio-Security measures in place and please dip boots in the foot baths and nets in the net basin provided containing solution.
