A survey carried out by Tourism Development International (TDI) on behalf of Inland Fisheries indicate that there are 250,000 anglers in Ireland. This includes  men / women over the age of 15 who fish on a regular basis, in other words angling is their hobby.  In addition to this there are another 250,000 who would like the opportunity to go fishing. In summary therefore there are potentially 0.5m anglers in Ireland who generate in the region of €50m to the economy.

Between tourist and recreational anglers the value of angling to the Irish economy is €250m.  This is a massive investment to Ireland with a lot of spin off indirect employment to angling guides, local accommodation providers, tackle shops, hotels, B&B’s, restaurants and pubs….
