Tom Cogan reports that “Irish Fishing Guides” Peadar O’Brien and himself were outĀ pike fishing together in the Monaghan areaĀ last Friday for the first time this year. The weather was terrible, wet, windy and very cold but after a slow startĀ the ladsĀ started to hit a fewĀ fish. Peadar got the first one floating a dead bait then Tom tried sink and draw very slowly with dead bait, the result was instant with 4 fish up to 9lbs. When the wind got up the lads changed position and on a slow drift and floating dead bait we made contact with a very lively 12 lb fish, one hell of a scrap followed but Tom eventually got him on board. Great fishing for the first day back! Donāt forget seeĀ the ladsĀ on facebook/irish fishing guides. There are some good photos.
