The final two Qualifiers to select the NCFFI Team Ireland, to fish the World Championships in Enniskillen in Oct took place on an excellent River Erne over the weekend, in good weather conditions. The top 10 anglers from rounds one and two fished round three and the top 6 anglers took part in the final round.
Last weekend was very good fishing with 14 anglers catching a total of 344 fish (47 Pike over 50cm and 297 perch over 20cm), this was eclipsed by even better fishing in rounds three and four where 757 fish over the strict size limit were landed.
Top pair over the series Co Galway pair of Tomasz Kurman and Jacek Gorny who won had a perfect 2 match point score catching a total of 383 fish between them for over 9,000 points. Despite having to cut short their last days fishing after 2.5hours due to having to return home early.
The battle for second place in the overall standings between both pairs of anglers from Co Armagh was won by Colin Rutherford and Lindsey McFadden who caught 302 fish ending the qualifiers on 3 match points and 7,316points.
Third one point behind were brothers Stephen and Andrew Powell who caught 305 fish for 4 match points.
All three pairs are now selected to represent Ireland in the World Championships from 9 to 13 Oct 13.
