River Feale by Matt Nolan

There hasn’t been much angling activity on the Feale or its tributaries since the fishery opened on 1st March.  The lack of angling activity according to the local fishery inspector Paddy Halpin, who knows all things about this system, is due to the almost arctic weather conditions and also due to the catch being limited to catch and release until 11th May.

Paddy Halpin is also anxious to point out that between 1st March and 11th May anglers are confined to fish with barbless hooks, and worm fishing is banned.

There is likely to be good salmon fishing available next week here as the water conditions seem ideal and the weather forecast is for a milder week.
