Brendan M Peppard reports from Ballyduff Bridge Fishery on the Munster Blackwater:

The water remains at its lowest level in a number of years making fishing extremely difficult despite the fact there are large numbers of fish within the river system but just not interested.

Dozens of fish can actually be seen in the deep pool on the beat but again not taking even from the opposite bank using permitted methods.

Rain is forecast and we have seen some heavy showers but more substantial and prolonged downfalls would be needed to bring levels up.

Mr.and Mrs Tim James from the UK have been back again for their second time this season and did actually hook a Salmon  on the Ballyduff  Bridge beat earlier this week against all odds but sadly lost it.

For all anglers frustrated by the lack of water and hopes of catching a fish it was Valerie James who caught the biggest fish of the season to date on any of our beats earlier in the year and which she preceded by another sizeable one ably assisted by Connie Corcoran, one of our Ghillies.

 NOTE:

The Season on the Ballyduff beats will close on Monday 30th.September as in previous years as we are not in favour of the two week extension for reasons previously stated and wish to continue putting the welfare of the Salmon before any monetary gain, catch and release or not.

Casting tuition will still be available after season end.
