Paul Whelan Fort William Estate reports that water levels, at a summer time low, are currently well suited for the fishery…
Not a bad weekend with 3 fish to report. Paul Kingston landed a beautiful fish off the Ellis beat of 9lbs on spinner. Mallick Hall from the US who is a guest at Lismore Castle landed a nice fish of 8lbs off the Castle beat. This was his first ever salmon.
Also from the US and to a guest at Lismore Castle Celeste Good landed her 4lb fish and this was her first ever salmon. Plenty of fish seem to be running with the tide so fishing has certainly picked up in the last few days. Also good reports of fish been landed below the bridge on the club waters.

Go fishing…
Flowing through Cork and Waterford, in the south east of Ireland, the river Blackwater is most famous for it’s salmon fishing. Fort William Fishery has 5 beats on the river, which include stretches particularly suited to flyfishing. Our beats offer a wide variety of water, suitable for both beginners and the more experienced fishermen. In summer we have also good numbers of sea trout. On the estate there is two self-catering cottages and tackle/freezer room. Whether you like fishing for salmon or fly fishing for sea trout, Fort William will meet all your game angling requirements and much more.
