06/03/2013: Last night brought the first rain we have had in the northweat since Thursday 14th of February, nearly 3 weeks without rainfall. The gauge at the Four Masters’ Bridge is currently reading 0.5 metres. The fishing has picked up pace over the past week. With a fish on Friday, 2 on Saturday, 3 on Sunday and one yesterday and another this morning. B. Smith had an 8lbs fish on fly from the Trout Pool on Friday, N. Seales had a 9lbs fish on flying c from the Trout Pool and A. Carson had a 10lbs fish on prawn from the High Bank, both on Saturday, S. Carty had an 8lbs fish on fly from the Stoppage, S. Sinclair had a 12lbs fish from the Money Hole and R. Morrin had a 9lbs fish on fly from the Eel Weir, all on Sunday, M. Doherty had a 10lbs fish on prawn from the Mill Pool, yesterday Tuesday and S. Carty had a 13lbs fish this morning, Wednesday from Briney’s on fly.
The weather outlook is for light rain and mild conditions until the start of next week when it will become much colder.
