Frank Maunsell of the Owenmore Fishery in Co. Kerry reports that fishing on the river and in the lakes has been good and that prospects are good after more rain last night…
21/08: We had a very good week on the river and lakes. We had one salmon plus 3 grilse and some seatrout on the river and the lakes fished very well even though it was very windy at the start. On Saturday the lads could not get out until 4 pm. They had 3 trout up to 3 1/2 lbs weight plus 7 juniors. On Sunday there were 11 trout caught on the lake. We had heavy rain yesterday and there is a good flood on the river today. There were fresh salmon in the ledge pool which is at the bottom of the river.
