T

he Ulster Krakens headed to Longfields Wall for the 6th round of their shore league, and it was a venue that split the anglers down the middle, with some loving it, and others hating it…

Conditions looked good for the 12 anglers, with a nice breeze and some decent colour in the water, but as soon as they got fishing, they realised that it was going to be a tough affair, with every fish a bonus.

With only three fish landed by midpoint in the competition there were plenty of long faces, but the fishing did improve a little from then on, and at least a few anglers had some fish to show by rods in at 9pm, with Craig Henderson taking the win from Zone A with 6 fish for 157 points, while Gavin Mahaffy took Zone B with 5 fish for 150 points.

Results as follows:

Zone A
1st Craig Henderson 6 fish for 157 points
2nd Raymond McCann 4 fish for 97 points
3rd Stephen Kinning 3 fish for 93 points
Zone B
1st Gavin Mahaffy 5 fish for 150 points
2nd Ally Nicholl 4 fish for 131 points
3rd Stephen Mcgarrell 4 fish for 129 points
Biggest fish – Stephen m 32cm flounder
