Plenty of grilse in Melvin, but not taking well

Melvin did not fish particularly well last week. There was a number of grilse recorded but not in the numbers one would expect given the head of salmon in the Lough. Rods reported seeing good numbers of grilse pitching about the place but ‘not taking’.

Kenny Sweeney reported a 4lb grilse caught on Thursday. On Friday, Rodney Benson accounted for 2 grilse caught along the Roosky Shore in the Rossinver Fishery and on Sunday, Peter McKenna logged 2 grilse caught from Garrison weighing 2½ & 3 ½lb.
