Down in Cahersiveen 2013 got off to a good start.  John Quinlan decided to check out a new bass spot that might be suitable when sea conditions are rough.  Himself,  Ian and Joe Misselbrook.  Joe decided to try some fly casting practice and managed to catch a bass on fly on the 1st of January.  John suspects it may be the first bass caught on fly in Ireland for 2013.  He conceeds to be fair it was a very mild day and water conditions were ideal.

There seems to be good numbers of smaller bass around at the moment.  Chris Nealms has done very well taking quite a few on lug worm.

Salmon spawning on the River Inny seems to have finished.  Not surprisingly the numbers were down on other years in keeping with the less than average run we had during the season.  They still seem to be spread quite widely throughout the system and hopefully with good survival rates we should still end up with plenty juvenile salmon in the river.

If you’re interested in fishing with John this year please contact him as he still has times available throughout the season.
