Guide Sid Jones heads out the sea with Wicklow Charter Boat and tells us:
On a recent fishing trip targeting Smooth hounds (smoothies) with lads from West Cork & District anglers and a return trip for Andrew Johnston and family we headed out on board Kit Dunne’s Lisin 1 in search of these hard fighting fish. With excellent weather and perfect fishing conditions forecast for the day we were not to be disappointed when arriving in beautiful Wicklow harbour with a blue sky and calm sea ahead of us.
We loaded up and steamed to the fishing mark. It was only a matter of minuets when Terry O Donovan struck into the first fish of the day caught on his peeler crab supplied by East cork Bait Supplies. With Smooth hound after Smooth hound being caught, netted and released and a double hook up of hounds for myself along with catches of Dabs, Dog fish, Bull huss and some Whiting a great day was had by all the lads with 30+ Smooth hounds and over 100 fish being caught and released on the day.
