The bright sunny dry conditions ended this week and the weather was wetter and windier with most days being overcast. This was good news for trout anglers and allied to the increasing hatch of mayfly, the trout fishing was much improved this week. Rods reported some nice catches of Sonaghan and Gillaroo for those fishing nearer the shores.
Darren Maguire reported good fishing on Saturday with good numbers of decent Gillaroo & Sonaghan caught, all on the dry flies with the best fish being a brown of 3lb. Eugene Curran also had a good day on Saturday recording Gillaroo to 1lb 8oz and several good sonaghan and browns caught of around 1lb, all on wet flies.
Prospects look good for the coming week as the mayfly should continue to hatch in good numbers.
