Sean Carty of Land and Sea Sports in Bundoran tells us “Things were also on the up this week in Donegal bay with all the charter boats reporting good fishing with huge amounts of mackeral , plenty of pollock and coalies and some cod and ling about . With the bay full of bait fish we are looking forward to a great year and hope to see many more specimen fish recorded .
In the last 2 weeks the Donegal bay area has recorded 2 specimens incl a great Bollan wrasse for Boris siegal and a 9.5lb seatrout for Darren Ciconte . On the shore the fishing has been good also with anglers fishing Tullan strand and Cliffony Beach reporting Seatrout up to 4lb and plenty of Flounder and turbot . The Mackeral have also made an appearance on the shore with schoals of them reported on Mullaghmore , Mermaids and Rougey . Wildlife watchers were also in for a treat this week with Dolphins and Basking sharks visable from the shoreline , we could even see them from the door of the shop in Bundoran . There was also reports in from the charter boats of sightings of Minkie whales just west of Bundoran .”
Fly tying demonstration :
On Saturday the 15th of June Cartys Land And Sea Sports will host a fly tying demonstration by well known fly tier Basil Shields (Flies of Ireland) . Basil will be on hand during and after the demo to tie any flys requested and to answer any questions on flyfishing or fly tying .
