Mark Gannon of Courtmacsherry Angling is back againwith an update from the last couple of days…
While the weather has become a bit challenging in the last few days we are still having some good fishing.
The reefs at the start of the week produced conger to 35 lbs, ling to 20lbs,bullhuss, cod to 16lbs, several pollack to 10lbs
We were sharking on Monday. We tagged 5 fish the heaviest about 80 lbs. On the day we lost 3 shark, one was a good fish that broke the wire trace.
Fishing in the bay yesterday we had good conger to 30lbs, and lots of sport with the pollack on light gear. Best fish of the day went to Mark John Gannon a near specimen cod of 18lbs.
On the self-drives bass are being caught but only at specific times, when Greame Pullen of Totally Awesome Fishing fame was over making more movies, he spent all day fishing just for bass ending up with 9 fish to 9lbs, good thornback from a mark near Horse Rock and with light gear had great fun at the pollack.
I have had reports that some good sea trout were caught off Broad strand, while fishing in the estuary several were observed at high water.
