The River Boyne – home of the Salmon of Knowledge – was at the centre of proceedings when Minister Fergus O’Dowd welcomed delegates to Drogheda’s first international conference this morning (June 4).
Around 150 delegates filled the Westcourt Hotel’s Boyne Suite as Minister O’Dowd opened the 30th annual meeting of the North Atlantic Salmon Conservation Organisation (NASCO), which will run until Friday.
Delegates have travelled from Canada, Denmark (representing the Faroe Islands and Greenland), European Union (representing its 27 member states), Norway, Russia and USA.
All delegates received a welcome pack, organised by Drogheda Chamber, including visitor guides, maps, discount and postcards of the town…..
