Fort William fishery Manager Paul Whelan reports today from the Munster Blackwater:
Water levels are up about 3″ after our recent spell of heavy showers but levels are still very low and just perfect for the fishery. Yesterday evening Brian Hennessey landed a beautiful fish of 10lbs from the powdering tub on the Castle beat on a size 11 silver grey. Over the weekend  Bob our guide had a nice fish of 10lbs off the Glenmore beat on fly. Fish took a size 12 cascade. Couple of fish too were hooked and lost off the Ellis so things are looking up with this low water.
Forecast for the coming week is for showers .

Go fishing…

Flowing through Cork and Waterford, in the south east of Ireland, the river Blackwater is most famous for it’s salmon fishing. Fort William Fishery has 5 beats on the river, which include stretches particularly suited to flyfishing. Our beats offer a wide variety of water, suitable for both beginners and the more experienced fishermen. In summer we have also good numbers of sea trout. On the estate there is  two self-catering cottages and tackle/freezer room. Whether you like fishing for salmon or fly fishing for sea trout, Fort William will meet all your game angling requirements and much more.
