You would imagine that the high temperatures and blue skies of recent weeks would have presented challenges when coarse fishing in the Cavan area. Not the case on a recent visit to one of the smaller lakes in the Bailieboro area which produced some very nice bream, hybrid and roach fishing while the temperature gauge was in the mid to high twenties. On choosing a swim sometimes you never know how things area going to turn out!
Feeding was simply a few feeders of darkened crumb with no particles, bites came immediately, lots of them but small fish, roach, perch and some skimmers. Then there was the heavy nod of a better fish, a nice bream, one of eleven better fish which included hybrids. All were taken on red maggot on a size 12 hook. When the bites slowed a few red maggots in the feed brought the fish on again. Fishing was into 2m at 35 turns on a scorching bright day.
