My mother always had a saying when there was work to be done – “Do it yourself says the little Red Hen”
Well there’s no doubt but Sean Jordan is singing from the same hymn sheet. He decided to recycle or should I say upcycle an old 25 litre drum and convert it into a Stripping Basket for his Salt Water fly fishing.
Sean tells us “It’s well known in saltwater fly fishing what a great asset a stripping basket is, allowing the angler to maintain control of stripped/slack line in tidal flows whilst wading, and keeping the line up off the ground/rocks,(so the line won’t be stepped on and damaged or tripped over) and gives you the freedom + ability to move quickly should you see some fish activity nearby, in an efficient manner without reeling in and pulling back out the correct length of line again.”
Read Sean’s very clear steps on how it’s done “Recycled Stripping Baskets‘
