Danny Mageean and fishing partner Paul Lloyd had these two beautifully marked pike from a County Monaghan lough on Sunday 02 February. The determined duo fished in what where not very favourable conditions: high water and strong winds.
Paul had his fish around lunch time on a ledgered herring and it weighed in at exactly 10lb. Danny had to wait for a couple more hours before his bite alarm went into overdrive as the fish tore of with his ledger boom fished pollan.
After a spirited fight of around five minutes Paul slid the net under Danny’s fish. The pike was weighed at 17lb 2oz and quickly photographed before being safely returned to fight another day.
