Lindsey Clarke from the Ballyshannon office reports on the River Drowes for the week ending 25 May…

Water levels were better this week on the Drowes and the fishing reflected this with good numbers of salmon caught.

On Monday John McGill had a very good day recording 7 grilse caught weighing from 4 to 7lb with 4 of these released again. The fish were all caught spinning from Briney’s to the Crooked Hole.

On Tuesday, Chris McDaid recorded a 4½lb grilse caught on a Mepp’s from Spa Well.

On Wednesday, Daryl Kennedy caught and released 3 salmon on prawn from the meadow. P. McGrath also landed a salmon on prawn from The Meadow. Karl Hegarty, reported a 7½lb salmon caught on worm from Lennox’s Bridge.

On Saturday, Marty King logged 2 grilse caught on prawn from the Money Hole and Sean King accounted for a 5lb grilse caught on prawn from the Long Hole.

On Sunday, Marty O’Hara recorded a 5lb grilse caught on a spinner from the Crooked Hole. Marty King reported 3 grilse caught and released on prawn from the Crooked Hole. Walter logged a 10lb salmon caught on prawn from the Eel Weir. Tony Parker registered a 7lb salmon caught and released on a fly from The Cascades and Dermot McNiece accounted for a 4lb grilse caught on prawn from The Washstones.
