Ghillie/Guide Vincent Appleby reports from a calm and sunny Currane:
07/03/2014: Straight to the action and the trolling department, first in the striking zone was local gillie Mr. Eric Jouen of Waterville Boats and of [email protected] who caught a fine 10 lbs Salmon, next in the striking zone was local Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, who caught a fine 11.½ lbs Salmon on the troll. Now for today’s weather chart, wind NNW light with bright sunshine and you can say without any fear of contradiction there weren’t any wet arse’s just red faces for those who didn’t catch my Noble Salmon. On an updating point of view there is a lot to be said for Wi-Fi Just for the record there was 21.7 mm of rainfall yesterday.
08/03/2014: Lough Currane was at a standstill and not surprising with a strong SW wind blowing down the lake, as you can see by the Bay view of Ballinskelligs Bay. At least my Noble Anglers had an excuse to head for the local watering hole to watch Ireland in the Rugby on the big Screen and see the end of a career? of a great player i.e. Brian O’Driscoll with a world record 140 caps, it will be interesting to see if any body can cap that.
09/03/2014: It was a calm day in all departments.
10/03/2014: Some fine weather at last, with blazing sunshine and calm all day, and yes you have it my noble anglers failed miserably in their duties in all departments.
11/03/2014: They say that you have no chance of catching my Noble gentlemen when its blazing saddles and flat calm, well my Noble Anglers you can put that one to rest, because Mr. Donagh McCarthy of the USA and Waterville, caught a fine 11 lbs Salmon on the troll, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy of www.fishingwithdom.com and as you can see by the pictures, Donagh’s Dog was claiming his stake in Procuring the old gentlemen and that takes us to comment of the day, which goes to Mr. Tony Conlon of Waterville, when Tony was having his pint he saw the photo on the Lobster back bar board, he said “now dogs can catch Salmon on Waterville Lake“. weather as already stated.
That is your ration for the week on Lough Currane, from your Gillie and the Waterville Fishery, no spin no fly’s just facts.
