LOUGH MELVIN – Monday 15th to Sunday 21st September 2014.

Lough Melvin remained very low again this week and the weather was sunny with many days only giving very light winds. Not a good recipe for Lough fishing! Trout fishing was tough with decent trout hard to come by. There was no angling effort for salmon it seems. On brighter note, the Rossinver Fisheries held their annual end of season charity competition.

This was fished by 37 anglers. Saturday gave fair conditions with overcast skies and a light wave. The competition was won by R. McCaffrey with 3 fish for 2.16kg. In second place was L. Mahon with 3 fish for 2.08kg and in third place was Pat Davey with 2 fish for 2.04kg. The weather in the evening was perfect for the annual Barbeque and all concerned enjoyed the feast laid on by the willing volunteers of the Rossinver Fishery. All proceeds will be given to charities yet to be decided.
