Ghillie Vincent Appleby reports on the salmon and sea trout fishing in the past week on Lough Currane from his blog at http://wwwsalmonandseatroutphotos.blogspot.com/
/8/14 Mr. Michael Clifford of the UK and Waterville had his own battle, with the Wild Atlantic Salmon and one hell of a fight he gave, so Michael was telling me and once his ghillie MD took the net into his hands, the rest is history. Then it was the turn of the paparazzi to take the photo of Michael and his fresh 7 ½ lb. salmon. So you can say without any fear of contradiction Michael was the Star of Lough Currane today. Wind light NNW with reasonable cloud cover and very humid at times.
/8/14 All the headlines go to the evening shift and for good reason, Mr. Guy Atkinson while fishing with his ghillie MD, caught his first ever sea trout of 5 ¼ lb. on the fly and finished his evening off with another sea Trout in the 2 lb. class. Wind NNE then veered NNW this evening, light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover. Now to the C&R Angler and the picture says it all, need I say more.
/8/14 All the head line this Bank Holiday Sunday, come from the Bungalow. First in the C&R department, Mr. Mike Power had a Junior to his rod while fishing with his ghillie Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com and a guest fishing with his ghillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com also caught a trout to his rod. In Neil’s hired out boat department, Mr. Mike O’Herlan, caught 3 sea trout on the drift, from Junior class up to 2 lb. and last but not least, Mr. Ray Burns caught a fine sea trout on the fly in the 3 lb. class. Wind N light to fresh with reasonable cloud cover.
/8/14 My Noble Anglers were as scarce this Bank holiday Monday and no fish were reported. Wind SE fresh with reasonable cloud cover.
/8/14 Lough Currane was nigh on flat calm all day, the only thing that was encouraging, Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com reported that there were a lot of fish showing on the surface, and sadly they couldn’t be enticed hook, line or sinker.
/8/14 There was a fine 5 lb. 12 oz. sea trout caught on the troll by Mr. Sean Kestel of Dublin, while fishing with his ghillie Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com and staying with the sea trout there were reports of the odd Sea Trout being caught. Wind NW then veered NNW with reasonable cloud cover.
