Billy Downes of the Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers Association reports on the water levels which continue to run high and rule out salmon angling…
As of Sunday 16th February river continues at high unfishable as it has been for the past two weeks. It has been over 2.5m on the OPW gauge at the laune Brisge consistently for all of February. We need the river to lose about 2 feet of water on the down stream fisheries before they will be comfortably fishable. The height is about 4.5 feet on the gauge at Johnston’s.
It’ll probably have risen again last night but there is to be some respite for the week ahead. If the level comes down to 3 feet or so there could be a good chance of a springer.
